Ginger Bread Contest

Hancock Shaker Village invites bakers of all ages and skill levels to enter our Hancock Holidays Gingerbread House Contest. The theme is works of architecture. Show us your interpretation of an architectural masterwork, a fanciful creation from your imagination, or your own dwelling. Or, craft a building from our own Shaker Village.

Participation is free and open to the public, and all submissions will be exhibited during Hancock Holidays, December 6–8, 2019. 

2019 Hancock Holidays Gingerbread House Contest RULES

Official rules:

• Entry forms must be received by Wednesday, November 27, 2019, electronically, by mail, or delivered in person to the admissions desk, open daily through November 11 and weekends only beginning November 16, 10 am – 4 pm. Forms can be emailed to Sarah Margolis-Pineo, curator: smargolis-pineo@hancockshakervillage.org
• Gingerbread entries must be delivered to the admissions desk November 30–December 4, between the hours of 10 am–4 pm.
• Entries must be made entirely of edible materials with the exception of the foundation board. No electric lights or additions are allowed.
• All entries will be on display in the Poultry House during Hancock Holidays, December 6–8, 2019.
• Participants will be given two admissions to Hancock Shaker Village per day of Hancock Holidays.
• Entries can be picked up at the Village after Hancock Holidays, Monday, December 9 – Sunday, December 15, 10 am–5 pm. Unclaimed entries become the property of the Village and will be destroyed.
• Hancock Shaker Village is not responsible for damaged or broken gingerbread houses and will not maintain or repair entries.
• Guest judges will choose category winners, and Hancock Holidays attendees will select the visitor favorite.
